Gamer’s Lament
Music by Johnny Cash
Lyrics by Graham Leathers
I was a druid.
I loved all creatures great and small.
When I had need of them I’d call.
When we had conflicts then with arrows shields and blades.
I’d summon them and they would hasten to my aid.
But then a thousand orcs upon us did descend.
And I rolled my dice again.
I was a Rogue-thief.
I was cunning I was sly.
In the shadows I would hide.
Many a guard fell when I broke into their keep.
Many a throat was cut while they were in their sleep.
I touched a patch of slime I thought was just a stain.
And I rolled my dice again.
I was a wizard.
I studied magic as a child.
I left the tower young and wild.
I met a party and adventuring we did go.
We faced a demon in a dungeon deep below.
I saw a flash of light, I felt a jolt of pain.
And I rolled my dice again.
I am a fighter.
I am a big and burly man.
With sword and shield I’ll make my stand.
I hope my dice rolls, now, will help me stay alive.
With any luck I just might get to level five.
But more than likely I will just die clean and quick.
Cause my DM’s a dick.
Then I’ll roll up a cleric.
